Health Ministry
The Health Ministry Team is a group of members who are interested in health and wellness meeting to discover the health needs of the congrgation. We are hoping to provide education and assistance to members of the congregation for healthy living. Check out the Messenger for a monthly article.
Mutual Ministry
Mutual Ministry Team exists for all of us! The ELCA has recommended that each congregation should have a Mutual Ministry Team for the purpose of:
* Developing open communication about expectations, attitudes and concerns within the congregation, committees, and the staff.
* Identify early warning signs of misunderstandings between congregation and staff and members themselves.
* Become a listening post for staff and people.
* Serve as a group where the Leadership staff could test new ideas.
* Be a “sounding board” in times of personal and professional stress.
A Mutual Ministry Team has been appointed consisting of Susan Utech, Dave Hanke, Sue Rheinschmidt, Sharyn March, Dorothy Fritz, and Dave Kryshak, Chairperson.
Please direct any comments or concerns to the team members. The team strives to achieve a “safe place: to share in ministry, define our differences and respect each other as partners in ministry. The team meets with the leadership staff quarterly and at other times as needed. Contact us for more information.
Property Committee
The Property Committee at Mt. Calvary is made up of four members at-large plus the council representative. This group of individuals is responsible for many decisions regarding the church building and the property thereof. Their duties include the following:
* Coordinate and monitor maintenance of all church real and personal property.
* Establish and monitor preventative maintenance programs.
* Coordinate volunteer work projects/efforts as they relate to this committee.
* Establish policies and procedures on the use of church properties.
* Plan and coordinate all church property-related projects.
The Property Committee is also the "over seer" for the Technology Committee. Any recommendations that either of these two ministry teams made have to pass through the Property Committee. Becky Luett is the staff liaison to the Property Committee. They usually meet on the second Monday of the month at 7:30 pm. Any congregational members are welcome to attend. If you would like more information, please contact us.
Stewardship Committee
God has given each of us treasures of time, talent and treasure to share with our brothers and sisters in Christ. The stewardship committee is charged with the development, implementation and monitoring of these gifts. The responsibility of the committee is to see that each congregation member is given the chance to share their gifts. The committee works to incorporate stewardship in all aspects of parish life and doing so to show its true meaning.
Technology Committee
The Technology Ministry Team is a group of people charged with the maintenance and upkeep of the church's computer network, sound system and audio/visual equipment. They meet once a month to discuss usage of equipment, troubleshoot problems, and discuss/plan updating and upgrading of church systems and software.
Mt. Calvary Quilters
You do not have to be great at sewing to be part of the quilting group. There is quilting every 1st and 3th Tuesday of every month, September through May. We have several dedicated ladies, but we are always happy to have new people. Even if you can come once in a while, please feel welcome! Besides shipping 100 or more blankets to Lutheran World Relief, we also ship school kits, baby layettes, clothing, health kits, and sewing kits. We are very grateful for all the donations of fabrics, old mattress pads, any old sturdy (clean) fabric, etc. We try to use everything given to us. Hope to see you there!
VIP Fellowship
We meet once a month from October to May on the third Thursday of the month for noon potlucks. We have a Christmas party in December and a Spring picnic in May. There is food, fellowship and fun! We have a variety of activities including programs, speakers, bingo and fellowship. Anyone who has the afternoon free is welcome to come!
Spring Tea
May brings our Spring Tea intended for mothers and daughters of all ages. We begin with a fun activity. For example, once we made hats from gift wrap and decorated them with all sorts of embellishments. We enjoy delightful treats with tea and punch as we have our speaker/entertainment. Last year's theme was "Holidays!" and each table was decorated for a different holiday. Check back for information about our next tea in the spring! |
