Welcome to our new members: On May 5 at the 8 am service we welcomed Steve & Tracy Lake & their son Riley and Jim Tarras to Mt Calvary. Today, May 12 at the 10:30 am service we will be welcoming Mike Benaszeski, Kurt Landwehr & his daughter Brooke and Brian & Cassie Zell. We welcome them to our family. If you are in a pew with a new member please invite them to join you at the fellowship table after the service.
Quilters: The Quilters group will meet on May 14 & 28. May is the last month of the season for the Quilters. The group will meet again in September. The Quilters group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 1 pm. All are welcome.
Raffle Tickets: Lisa Morgan will sell Raffle Tickets after both services this week for Blessings In A Backpack (BIB). BIB is a weekend hunger project that will send food home with Everest kids every Friday. Tickets are $5/ticket or 5 for $20. Lots of great prizes available.
VIP’s: The VIP’s will meet on Thursday, May 16. It will be the end of the season picnic, not the typical potluck. The group will discuss ideas for next years’ events or special speakers. All are welcome.
Sign a Pennant! Because we participate in an ELCA Missionary Sponsorship through the Missionary for a Day program, we are invited to have the members of the congregation sign a pennant. We will send the pennant banner back to the ELCA and it will be linked together and displayed at the Missionary Sponsorship breakfast at the 2013 ELCA Churchwide Assembly in August. Please sign one of the pennants located on the tables under the balcony.
2013 Graduates: Are you graduating this spring/summer? Pastor will bless graduates at both services on June 9. We would like to know who is graduating so we can put your name in the bulletin and newsletter for June. Please contact Pastor Rich or Lori Lynn if you are graduating or you know of someone graduating so they can be recognized. We need to know the school and degree, if graduating from college.
Spring Cleaning: Have you started your spring cleaning? Do you have items that you no longer use or need? Mt Calvary will hold its annual rummage sale on Friday, August 9 & Saturday, August 10. We are now accepting items & clothing for the sale. You can bring them to the church and put them in the music room which is located down the hallway from Pastor Rich’s office. If you would like to help out with the rummage sale contact Yvonne Clemens at 715-359-9545.
Dehumidifiers Needed: Do you have a slightly-used dehumidifier that you don’t want? The two we have in the basement are old and not very efficient.
Have GPS?: Do you like to study the Bible with friends? Do you like to do crafts? Join us all summer long for the GPS (God, Paper, Scissors) group that meets every Thursday at 6:30 pm. It was decided that the GPS group will meet through the summer, coming when you can & if not, working on the “words” on your own. The group will have a formal study or guide for each week. Each person can choose what pictures they think will best depict the meaning of each “word”. It is always amazing how each person comes up with different pictures & ideas. Journaling is always good too! Happy crafting, scrapping, quilting, card making or whatever you choose. See you on Thursdays. Kolor for Kids FunFest: Our local Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapter has teamed up with Shared Blessings to host the first annual Kolor for Kids Funfest and 5k run in the Wausau area. As the major sponsor, our local Thrivent Financial Chapter is asking for volunteers to help Shared Blessing host this event. What a great way to participate even if you don’t want to run. Volunteers are needed to direct traffic, register participants, throw colors, and more. The event will be held on May 18 from 8 - 1 pm at the Wausau School Forest. Please see the posting on the community bulletin board for contact information.
