Why the name "Mt. Calvary"?Our church is on top of a hill in the village of Rothschild, WI so calling it Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church seemed like a natural choice. But Jesus was crucified on a Mt. Calvary so why would a church choose that name?
Because what happened next is the amazing part. When Jesus rose from the dead, everything changed! He lives, so we might also live as a newly restored creation and in a loving relation with God and with each other. Join us. The path of Jesus through Mt. Calvary was the incredible journey of saving grace for us all. So, too, our journey at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church is one where everyone matters as we share God's love and forgiveness. Let us live that life together. Note: The name 'Calvary' translates from the Latin term. Some Bibles use the Aramaic translation "Golgotha' for the place of Jesus' crucifixion. |
