A Safe Place to Grow in Faith

"It's a nice place to be"

confirmation ministry

October Schedule
October 6- Confirmation (Mentors & Youth Time)
October 13 - Confirmation Class – Lutheran Confessions
October 20- Confirmation Class – Adiaphora
October 27- Confirmation Class Fellowship / Service

Faith Formation

We help youth grow in their faith through Affirmation of Baptism (sometimes called Confirmation) sessions.  Starting in the 6th grade and ending in the fall of the 9th grade, we meet weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm during the school year.  Together with Pastor we explore how God fits into our lives and how it connects to the Bible.
"We actually learn things."
Fun fellowship time and service projects are weaved into these sessions.  Adult mentors of mature faith are linked with the youth to support, encourage and engage in discussion on faith issues.

Affirmation of Baptism

On the last Sunday of October (Reformation Sunday) grade 9 students affirm their baptism to the faith promises that parents, sponsors and the congregation made at their baptism.

"It's interactive."

What do we ask as we mature in faith?

Picture

One part of the public Affirmation of Baptism in Christian faith asks

Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in holy baptism to:
live among God's faithful people;
hear the word of God and share in the Lord's Supper;
proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed;
serve all people following the example of Jesus; and
strive for justice and peace in all the earth?

Response:  We do, and ask God to help and guide us.
(Evangelical Lutheran Worship, page 236)

A fitting response for all, regardless of age, to renew our participation in the life of the church.
